NEWS:

Next time you're at the grocery store, take a look at this week's Country Weekly Magazine.  Get the dish on how life is moving forward for Gary Allan.  He opens up about the greatest tragedy of his life, the death of his wife, Angele, in 2004 and how it has changed him. He says, “She always wanted me to write songs about her, but I never did back then. Now, I write all sorts of songs about her.”  And that's what's behind his newest single, No Regrets, from his newest album, Get Off The Pain.  As for moving ahead in his personal life, he says, “I’m still traveling so much that it’s not something I’m looking for. Because of what I do, it’s so hard to have a relationship.”  He also talks about his musically-inclined children.

Darius Rucker is hosting his first annual Darius And Friends Concert at The Wildhorse Saloon June 7th--just a few days ahead of the CMA Music Festival 2010.  It all benefits the groundbreaking research and lifesaving care given at St Jude Children's Research Hospital.  The roster of Darius' Friends who'll be appearing with him will be released soon, and tickets go on sale this Saturday at The Wildhorse Saloon Website.

Rascal Flatts' Joe Don Rooney and wife, Tiffany Fallon, are expecting their second child in September.  The couple have a son, Jagger Donovan, who was born in 2008.

It's a big day for newcomer Easton Corbin, who will make his first appearance on the Grand Ole Opry next Saturday, March 20th.

And finally, David Ball, who has a top ten hit every ten years or so, will release a new album, Sparkle City, on April 20.  It will be his first new album of original material in six years. He co-produced the album with his band, the Pioneer Playboys, after refining the songs over a year-and-a-half by playing clubs, theaters and festivals.

BIRTHDAYS: Carrie Underwood and tough guy Chuck Norris.

FROM THE DJ HISTORY CALENDAR:

1880: The Salvation Army landed in New York.  The Salvation Army’s work consisted of providing food, shelter and clothing to the needy along with the spreading of the Gospel to the spiritually needy.  Wherever disaster strikes, the Salvation Army is there to help.
1876: Alexander Graham Bell sent the first clear telephone message.  His words were, "Am I the right caller? Did I win the tickets?"
1981: Country music ruled the charts, as Eddie Rabbitt was number one on the pop charts with I Love A Rainy Night, and the Bellamy's were tops in country with Do You Love As Good As You Look.
