Nebraska Road Trip - Day 2
We have arrived in the West!
After an overnight stay in Valentine we have meandered our way along the north part of the state. This incuded a stop in Gordon and Hay Springs to meet a member of the Marcy familly (of Marcy Brothers fame.) Check out the photos.
We pulled into Chadron at 10:00 a.m. local time. A quick visit with our friends at KCSR (www.chadrad.com) and then off to Fort Robinson. We've heard there are cool stage coach, hayrack and jeep rides that we should check out. We'll let you know more as we go!

Dave probably said it best when we he said "if you have ever question whether there is a God, just look at the scenery." This was atop the large butte at Fort Robinson State Park. We were at the 2nd highest point in Nebraska and we rode there in an open jeep. Absolutely beautiful and amazing views.
A long and bumpy ride to Toad Stool Park also showed us some of the geological history of this planet. It was awesome to see the levels and layers of the Toadstool formations.
Dinner at Wrecker's Road House in downtown Chadron was very cool. With older memorabilia from cars, gas stations and even airplanes we spent a lot of time just looking around. Plus the food was GREAT, so we invited him to open a 2nd location in Norfolk!
Nebraska Road Trip - Day 1
Day 1 - Monday August 18
6:48 a.m. We have left Norfolk...and are WEST BOUND on the Great Nebraska. We've been through Meadow Grove, Tilden and Oakdale getting ready to pass through Neligh. Wave as we go by!!
7:50 a.m. North out of O'Neill heading to Gross...only 34.6 miles on 281 and the right on the Gross Road to the Nebraskinn.
11:23 a.m. On Highway 20 heading to Long Pine. Our first stop in Gross was amazing. We met all the residents of Gross and a few other friends too!
12:22 p.m. Now Northbound on Highway 183 heading to Springview for lunch. New pictures are posted of our trip thus far.
7:26 p.m. We've made it to Valentine for our overnight stay. We're staying at Motel Raine (www.sleepintheraine.com) and they have been wonderful hosts. We're looking forward to a big Nebraska steak since we are in the middle of ranch land here in Cherry County.
It's been an amazing of meeting wonderful people and seeing some beautiful scenery!! From Gross to Springview there have been people who welcomed us with open arms and open kitchens. We have experienced the love we all feel for this state and seen just the beginning of God's country.
