MON 4

January 4

Happy New Year

What to call this year was the topic of a 5 Person Flash Poll.  Is it "twenty-ten" or "two thousand ten?"  The poll voted to go with "twenty-ten" but many others say we need to use  both and make people think."

Cell Phone Rules

Dave & Angie's friend Dirk from Indiana gave his daughter a cell phone, but made her read these rules aloud in front of the entire family before she opened the box:

This is NOT my phone. This LG Rumor belongs to my mom and dad. It is their “extra” phone. They will let me use it, but they might also let my brother use it or let random homeless people use it. It is totally up to them.

This is NOT my phone. My mom and dad might let me use the unlimited texting, but since it is their phone, they can read all texts that I send or receive. It is my responsibility to tell my friends NOT to text anything that could get me in trouble.

This is NOT my phone. I will not use it during meals, during homework, or during any other time it keeps me from paying attention to the people I am with. My parents love me too much to let me become a brainless text addict.

This is NOT my phone. It will not be charged in my room, but downstairs in the kitchen or some other place my parents decide.  It will be put downstairs at a TIME my parents decide. I have no control over this phone except what my parents allow.

This is NOT my phone. However, when my parents let me use it, I will be sure to answer all calls and texts from them and let them know if I don’t have service. I will not ignore their calls.

Once again, this is NOT my phone. This phone is my mom and dad’s. I realize they may add more rules regarding the use of this phone. I am OK with all decisions they make. After all, it is NOT my phone; it’s theirs. I am lucky to have them as parents.

Lastly, since this is NOT my phone, I promise NOT to change the ring tone without my mom or dad’s permission.

Early Morning Trivia

Q: Even through these are relatively "useless" after we have "used" these - we often save them.
