Thanksgiving Feast

It was a big day making the annual Thanksgiving Dinner.  Canham Maytag Home Appliance Center brought in the Gemini Double Oven and the cooking began.  Special thanks to Ron from Sysco for making his Cheesy Coin Carrots & the Galiano Stuffed Turkey.  Tim & Gene from Hyvee came in to show us how to make the Pumpkin Cheesecake.  Theresa Hahlbeck made Barbecue Green Beans (she says its how she got her family to eat their veggies!)  And Cheryl Bollyut gave us a yummy recipe for Frito Corn Salad.

Well...It's Friday the 13th so we played it safe this morning and tried not to do anything that would cause us bad luck!  Thanks for all the calls with "Brag On Your Kids"!  We really do have some amazing, talented kids in our area!  We need your recipes for our annual Thanksgiving feast we prepare here at the station.  We'll be doing it on the 24th and if we choose your recipe, we would love for you to come in and be on the air with us to prepare it!  It's one of the most fun days of the year and we promise you will have a great time and enjoy some awesome food!  Just email Angie at angie@us92.com.  She really needs vegetable and dessert ideas!

National Men Make Dinner Day

Celebrated the first Thursday of every November, Dave found this holiday and decided to "make" breakfast for Angie since she usually does the in-studio cooking.  A trip to pick up her favorite breakfast sandwich and coffee was allowed, even though the official rules say you must cook the meal.  To check out the rules of National Men Make Dinner Day see the official website: www.menmakedinnerday.com

Why is it a PAIR of pants?


Following up to the trivia question question, Dave wanted to know why are jeans and pants referred to as a PAIR.  His point is that a shirt has 2 arms, but isn't a pair of shirts. The official answer that we found at www.word-detective.com was that pants is the shortened form of pantaloons.  Pantaloons were individual legs that were belted together at the waist.  


Apple Dumpling Gang 


It's time once again for the Norfolk Elks Lodge Apple Dumpling Sale.   These homemade apple dumplings are made with DeGroot Orchards apple here in Norfolk and individually wrapped and frozen with instructions included.  Members of the Elks club came in to make a dozen of these yummy treats for Dave & Angie this morning (don't worry - they shared.)

The dumplings are available now until they are gone for only $2 each or $22/dozen.  If you want to enjoy these at home, stop by Canham Maytag on Riverside Boulevard in Norfolk or call Bob Huntely at 371-1547 or Duane Goff at 371-2094.
