DO YOU FEEL SMARTER?  Following the suggestion by the Early Morning Trivia question - Dave and Jason decided to take a swig of lemon juice to see if they felt smarter.  No immediate effects...we'll let you know if genius status is achieved anytime soon.

NASCAR IN KC!  Dan Speas of NC+ Hybrids dropped off a pair of tickets to the Kansas City Busch & Nextel Cup races this weekend.  So we gave them away...Tracy & John called in for NASCAR Trivia and NASCAR Math.  After the heat race (5 trivia questions) they were tied at 2 a piece.  During the feature, Tracy pulled ahead with his knowledge of team sponsors and the math that puts them together.  Congrats Tracy - let us know how the race was!

COLD REMEDIES:  Dave has been fighting a cold all week long and he's ready for the magic cure!  So he took calls on what were the tricks to get healthy again.  Is it "starve a cold - feed a fever" or the other way around?  We even heard about rubbing your feet with Vick's Vapor Rub, putting socks on and going to bed.  We'll see what works?

IT KEEPS GOING & GOING & GOING....  Erv Gordon in Long Island, New York was recently in the news because his 1966 Volvo has 2.5 MILLION miles on it.  How many miles on your car, truck or motorcycle.  We heard from some people with long lasting vehicles.

UPDATING THE BIG RIG:  Brian Martin from the Chrome Shop Mafia in Joplin, Missouri called to check on the status of the Big Rig.  The plan is to get it back from West Point Implement Design today and get that final coat on the stage, and then to Bauer Built for the new shiny wheels.  If all goes as planned, Dave will be heading southbound Sunday, and back just in time for the arrival of his new baby Tuesday morning!

WHAT'S COOKIN'  Angie fired up the Canham Maytag Glasstop Oven this morning and made Breezy Burrito Bananas Foster.  Fun and easy - kids can even help (just make sure Mom or Dad do the frying.)

DIAMONDS ARE A GIRL'S BEST FRIEND...but is it OK to want a bigger one after 20 years of marriage.  A listener emailed us asking to settle a dispute between husband and wife.  She wants a bigger diamond for their anniversary, he thinks she should keep that one and he is willing to buy her a new ring for her other hand.  Lots of comments on our 5 person flash poll - with the majority voting that she keep the diamond but have it reset into a new ring.   The other option was to move that ring to her right hand, and then put a new ring on her wedding ring finger.  Angie liked all the suggestions - after all, it included more jewelry!

SETTING THE STAGE:  Dave checked in with Scott from West Point Implement this morning to see how work on the big rig is coming.  They are designing the hydraulic powered stage that will fold out at the back of the truck.  Should be done by the end of the week - then it's off to Missouri for the Chrome Shop Mafia to do their magic!

Early Morning Trivia

Q: 3% of us did this last week as we were watching football
A: Threw something at the TV.

MUD BATH ANYONE?  Contestants gathered at Deets Furniture this morning for a chance to win a hot tub part at Saturday night's Sawyer Brown concert, from Funwater Hot Tubs.  The tub was filled with mud and water to create a lovely mud bath. Stacy Christiansen was the lucky winner who found the rubber ducky that said "You're a winner."  She and 3 of her guests will enjoy the show from hot tub, along with all the food and drinks they can enjoy.  Of course, Dave needed to make an even bigger mess by crushing the hot tub with the hummer.  Check out the pictures in our Media Gallery.

FIRING UP THE CANHAM MAYTAG OVEN:  Since we missed out on the cooking yesterday, Angie decided to find something to make today...based on what is in the cupboard.  So, Bannock was the recipe of choice.  Bannock is a kind of bread usually prepared by pan-frying.  It is native to Scottish cuisine, but was introduced during the fur trade to Native American culture in Canada and much of the U.S, where it is now so widespread that it is considered a traditional food.  We loved the cinnamon and sugar option, and Jason even added syrup to the plain one!

WHO'S LIE IS IT ANYWAY?  To find out next contestant for the Funwater Hottub Mud Bath on Friday - listeners had to determine who was not telling the truth.  Karen knew that Jason was on the up and up.  His story...in 2004, an Austrian family was in the backyard enjoying the afternoon, when a six-inch ice ball fell from a jetliner toilet and slammed into their garden.  Fortunately, no was hurt.

Early Morning Trivia

Q: According to more than 1/3 of all Americans, we say this is our favorite food combination

MUSICAL SEATS AT DEETS: Listeners joined us at Deets Furniture & Flooring this morning for their chance to win the "Best Seats in the House" at the Saturday night Sawyer Brown concert. It was quite a scramble as we played Musical Chairs with Sawyer Brown music - with 70 different chairs. Many people found several prizes - but Kim Billstein was the lucky winner and will have the most comfortable seats at the show! Check out the pictures of all the fun!

HE WANTS A MAN'S MAN: A listener sent us an email needing a little advice from you! His 8 year-old son wants to join the Gymnastics team - he wants him to play football and doesn't know what to do. The phones were ringing with lots of suggestions...including letting him do what he wants because he is only 8, and may be bored with gymnastics by the time football comes around. Also, someone pointed out that gymnastics is a very athletic sport that will make him a more agile and strong football player later in life!

HE'S NOT MY HUSBAND!
Dave watched an NFL game yesterday where a man was painted head to toe in his teams colors. Dave noticed that he had a wedding ring on, and wondered what his wife thinks of this activity. Has your spouse ever gone out in public and you've been too embarassed to claim him or her? We took calls from a few women whose husbands dress up in some interesting outfits around Halloween.

WHAT IS A BOY? Dave shared this story by Alan Beck today. Check it out in our Things You Have Heard section to the right.

COOKING WITH NEBRASKA LIFE:  It's Wednesday, which always means its time for the Canham Maytag Glasstop Oven to do what it does best (with a little help from Angie.)  This week Nebraska Life asked for a little help - they have a new cookbook of Nebraska recipes coming out after Thankgiving - and needed a few more pictures of a recipe.  So Angie decided to try Swenson Stew...a recipe that sounds like it should cook for hours and hours, but was really simple, actually available in under an hour and absolutely delicious!  You'll have to try it for your family (check out the recipe section of our website to the right.)   And then Chris from Nebraska Life stopped by to photograph the finished product (and sample it too.) If you are interested in pre-ordering a cookbook, contact Nebraska Life (Angie is buying 5 for Christmas gifts.)

DON'T CRY OVER CUT ONIONS:  While cooking this morning, Angie cut an onion that was just a little too strong.  Dave was on the other side of the room and teared up.  What do you do to keep from crying while cutting an onion.  One suggestion was to cut the onion under running water.  Another was to start from the root of the onion and cut up.  The other suggestion was how to remove that onion smell from your hands...lather hands with soap and rub them on the metal faucet, rinse and dry.

HEY I KNOW YOU!  Where were you when you ran into someone you know?  Some of Dave's friends were in Disney World in Florida.  20 minutes into their visit in the park, they ran into another family from their small town - couldn't believe they were on the same vacation and hadn't even known it!  Kevin called to tell about the time he was driving in rush hour traffic in L.A. and looked over to see a 12 County car.  they rolled down their windows and chatted about both being from Knox County.  Dave was floating in a pool in Myrtle Beach when he saw some people that he didn't really care to be vacationing with, but that's how it goes.

Early Morning Trivia

Happy Friday!!!!  Man, it was a busy morning.  Thanks for all of the great song suggestions and requests for "Fast Song Friday".  It was interesting talking about gas prices.  They have really dropped around the area...some good news for a change!  Congratulations to Jennifer Schmit of Laurel.  She won a pair of tickets to see Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband and Sawyer Brown September 23rd at Divot's.  Get your tickets this weekend!  Also, we talked about guys not being able to "hit the target" in the bathroom after a fellow listener emailed us to "vent" about the men in her life being a little "off the mark."  Most ladies agreed that the men they know have bad aim.  It was decided that those men should either be made to clean the bathroom themselves or sit every time they "do their business."  Plus, we had fun hearing "Pet Names" people have for their significant other.  "Snooks", "Thumper" (there's a great story behind that one!), "Big Daddy", "Piddle" and "Kitten" were just a few.  And for the record, we did make "Kitten" purr on the air!  We'll see you Monday morning with Angie back in the studio fresh off vacation!  Dave...over and out.

Early Morning Trivia

Q: 44% of American kindergarted students say they have done this in the classroom?
A: Kiss someone!

Hi, Everybody! Man, it was a fun morning! Angie was gone so it was "boy's day to play"! Dave headed up to Pierce to drop a car on Mr. Indestructible Microphone. Thanks for Kumm Sales and Service out of Plainview, we were able to take a 4,300 pound 1978 Ford Country Squire station wagon up in the air more than 100 feet to drop it on Mr. I at our location just south of Eden's Gas Station along Highway 13. After 4 consecutive drops, the car was demolished and Mr. I still worked! He suffered a severe laceration to his lower torso and a major dent in his side but he's still fully funcional. Great job Mr. I! Thanks again to Kumm Services in Plainview...they are the ones who do the jobs no one else wants to do! Also a big thanks to the folks at Eden's Convenience Store and to Shawn Primrose for "donating" the car to drop! It will be recycled and put to good use as some steel product out of Nucor! Check out the pictures by clicking on the media gallery or this link  Have a safe and happy Labor Day. We'll be back with a full crew Tuesday morning!

Early Morning Trivia

Q: There are more than 9,000 of these on Earth every day?
