The Control: 2 liters of Diet Coke The Variable: The number of Mentos Mints
The Question: What will happen when Dave drops 5 Mentos Mints into a 2 liter bottle of Diet Coke?
The Doubt: How far will the Diet Coke fly? Will the bottle explode? Can Dave run fast enough to get out of the way?
The Conclusion: The Diet Coke sprayed about 6 feet into the air. The bottle did not move, therefore all observers did not get covered in Diet Coke.
The Test: The second experiment, the variable changed to 7 Mentos mints
The Result: A stronger force of geyser action, shooting about 11 feet in the air.
Test #3: Increasing the number of Mentos to 10 and putting the cap on the bottle.
The Result: The lid hindered the pop from spraying to the same height as the other two tests.
The Conclusion: A really flat tasting Diet Coke.
