Angie was the runner up of the competition Ron Grimes of Central City wrote "I Can't Find the Answer in a Bottle" in 1968 and performed it at the fair. Kaylene Christian of Omaha performing Desperado J. Sager of Norfolk's performed his original song "I Wanna Know"
For the second year in a row, Halle Stephens from Arapahoe was named the winner of the Texaco Country Showdown at the Platte County Fair.
