City Council Updated on Woodland Park Sewer Project
NORFOLK - The Norfolk City Council was given a quarterly update Monday night on Sanitary Sewer District's progress in developing a sewer system for the Woodland Park area. Norfolk City Administrator Shane Weidner said that the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality had deemed the SID's initial facility plan inadequate.
Weidner: "Which is fairly typical when you're taking on something as major as a sewer system, there's always those kinds of situations that come up. Usually you don't get though NDEQ on first blush."
Weidner did say that the SID is continuing to work on the plan to fix issues that are necessary for approval by the NDEQ. Following a dispute with the City of Norfolk, the SID is to disconnect from the city's sewer system by 2016.
