PA Man Stops in Pierce on Cross County Trek on Antique Tractor
PIERCE - An eastern Pennsylvania man made a pit stop in northeast Nebraska Thursday afternoon as a part of his cross country trek to raise money for those who've been injured serving the country. Ivan Stoltzfus of Honey Brook, PA met with supporters in Pierce as a part of his cross country trek on a 1948 John Deere model A tractor. Stoltzfus left from the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean in New Jersey on August 26th and has traveled 1,721 miles so far at 15 miles an hour with just one goal in mind.
Stoltzfus: I hope to raise a million dollars for the wounded warriors. I just feel like they volunteered and had the love for our county and us and our freedom that they're willing to go, and some of them paid the ultimate price."
Stoltzfus said that so far he's raised nearly $72,000 of that $1 million goal. He said that the engine and drive train of the tractor are stock and the only major modification is the Peterbilt semi cab attached to the tractor. He plans to reach California sometime in August.
